Description

F10, 2,5 sec., ISO 100, location: Windischleuba Castle, near Altenburg, Germany.

a more "normal" shot from me this time. taken during an art teacher's seminar held in a renissance castle somewhere in nowhere.

i kinda like the overexposure in this one, so don't flame me for not using any filters ;)

Unique angle, capturing three pathways that take your eye only so far the rest is a mystery. Staircase on left has nice ambiant lighting with in that area, rather nice.

The exposure is fine, except for the overexposed part? Filters help with exposure...? Anyways, I really like this, nice sweeping view of the archetecture, nice shot good angles/composition.

Looks like HDR would have been a good solution!
The place is well chosen and so is the wide angle.
Not sure about the overexposure which overwhelms the overall impression.

Agree about the overexposed thing

I think the bright sunlight through the window adds an element of drama to this image. Excellent perspective and overall composition. Very nice work. (thumup) +9

I like the POV with the corridor leading away and the welcoming staircase on
the left.
I don't mind the overexposed part here.
Surely would look great in a big format on a wall.

I like the bright sunlight. HDR serves a purpose at times but I always like the natural look of regular exposure too. A very good composition and mood to this.

Interesting shot :) don't think the over exposed area adds anything though.

I agree with Gary, however I think this image could benefit from the HDR result! Still, a nice piece! Lookin' forward to your next piece! Keep it up! :)

Absolutely stunning perspective - the paths running through the image are totally fascinating. Usually you look for just one path but here it's the options that make it so interesting. The varying shades of lighting are totally fascinating - the over-exposed part is just one facet of the lighting - it gives the image a spiritual / ethereal feel and for me is a very strong element in making it work.
Absolutely stunning...

Nice colors, I'm a fan of earthy tones. I like the overexposed point light, kinda makes me want to look out the window.
Beautiful shot.
Now which way was I supposed to go....

thanks for your comments!
do i sense disagreement about the overexposure? *g*
well, Elite moserArtist : i tried HDR on several nicht shots but wasn't really satisfied with the outcome - it looked technically great, but sterile. the other reason why i don't use it is because i usually stich images together to gain a higher resolution to work with. puzzeling PLUS HDR??? i'm not suicidal... ;D

Elite MrBlue : alas, printing it is out of a question. AFAIK german copyright law doesn't allow to sell interior shots of private buildings without the owners consent. too bad i don't own the small castle...

I do agree that the exposure is not an advantage in this one...
the HDR maybe is not a nice way to go but it is worth to try more ;)

Daniela - a puzzle, a maze - an incredible place. I love the craftsmanship of old architecture and this documents it perfectly - from the spiral staircase to the barrel vault. I wish I were standing there seeing that light and smelling the air. I love and miss Germany... thanks for the inspiration - jason
